What is the STOXX Europe 600?

The STOXX Europe 600, or simply the STOXX 600, is a broad-based stock market index representing 600 large, mid, and small-capitalization companies across 17 European countries. It is widely considered the most comprehensive benchmark for the overall European stock market.

Because it spans multiple countries and sectors, it provides a much more accurate picture of the broader European economy than a single-country index. It includes major multinational corporations from industries like healthcare, financials, and consumer goods.

Curiosity: Even though it tracks "Europe," the STOXX 600 is not limited to countries that use the Euro currency. In fact, companies from the United Kingdom and Switzerland (which use the Pound and Swiss Franc) historically make up some of the absolute largest weightings in the entire index!
